Anyone know what the Guia Peñin is?

Robert Parker is an Englishman who has lived in Spain for the last 30 years. Ten years ago he and his partner Ignazi Lopez started Campos de España (Fields of Spain) working with growers in Spain’s most recognised grape producing regions to bring to the market approachable and well priced examples of wines from these regions.

Their tenacity and hard work has paid off.

Robert tells us that the 2016 edition of the Guia Peñin (The Penin Guide), Spain’s leading wine guide aimed at professionals and enthusiasts, has just been released.

It includes the most comprehensive range of tastings and evaluations, from entry level wines right through to the most sophisticated wines on the market today. All told it covers 2100 wineries and 10,800 wines including the latest vintages and wines ready for release in 2016.

Points are assigned to each wine listed while Stars indicate value for money, five being the maximum.

We import three wines of Robert’s wines and while these are currently from the 2013 vintage, the 2014 wines due early next year received the following scores

-  Campos de Luz Old Vine Grenache        86 Points       5*****

-  Campos de Hojas Rioja Tempranillo      85 Points       5*****

-   Campos de Risca Monastrell-Syrah      88 Points       4****

Congratulations on these great results Robert and Ignazi and for celebrating ten years since you started Campos de España.
