Harewood Estate Reserve Pinot Noir

Add To Wishlist

The Harewood Estate Reserve Pinot Noir is produced from three Dijon clones (114, 115, and 777) of Pinot Noir grown in their Denmark vineyard on Scotsdale Road in the Great Southern of Western Australia.

WINEMAKING

The grapes are handpicked and hand plunged in small, one tonne open fermenters. A varying (vintage pending) proportion of the whole bunches are incorporated in the ferment to introduce complexity to the final blend. The wine matures for approximately eighteen months (vintage pending) in 100% new French oak barriques.

TASTING NOTES

The wine shows a dark ruby colour with purple hues on release. A highly complex nose of cherries, spice, licorice and mocha is complemented by perfumed floral notes, gamey, mushroom characters and toasty French oak. The wine impresses above all with texture but also fruit. Rich flavours of black cherry and raspberry are balanced by more complex hints of spice, mushroom and aniseed. The wine finishes with mocha and gamey characters supported by fine grained mature tannins and vanillin French oak.

CELLARING

A strong candidate for short to mid-term cellaring in good conditions, the wine benefits greatly from a couple of years of rest in the bottle. Production is limited to an average of 1,200 bottles, and the wine is not produced annually (last three vintage releases have been 2014, 2012 and 2010).
