Join “La Resistance”! Learn about these Organic French Wines

By: SVS Categories: Wines

With restrictions getting tougher, we won’t be able to travel to Europe anytime soon. While you can’t travel, we would like to bring you with us to the French wine Region of Rhone!

La Resistance wines are a great expression of this region. Learn more about them below!

About the wines:

La Resistance Organic Rouge

91 pts – Angus Hughson (Wine Pilot)

…Here is a deliciously smashable French red that has something for everyone. There is fleshy mulberry and red cherry fruits, with a distinctive savoury feel, that are also lifted by a dusting of violets and spice.

It’s quite bold for a Côtes du Rhône but never loses its French style.

The palate continues along that savoury line with baked earth and tobacco complexity on a bed of dark fruits with meaty tannins rounding off a delicious package. Match it up with a cheese and charcuterie platter.

La Resistance Organic Rose

91 pts – Angus Hughson (Wine Pilot)

When it comes to French rosé, almost everyone reaches for the wines from Provence and poor old Côtes du Rhône gets lost in the rush. But let me let you into a little secret – the wines are fairly similar as both come from South-Eastern France and Côtes du Rhône often offers better value.

Take this organic rosé for example. Pale salmon pink it is a subtle and savoury style with red strawberry aromas topped off with the barest hints of meat and spice. Bone dry, it is a bit fuller and richer than similar wines from Provence and offers a lingering spicy finish.

With food this will beat most Provence rosés every day of the week.

Vignerons de l’Enclave

The wines are produced on certified organic vineyards covering 1200 hectares, which is one of the largest organic vineyards in France.

Produced in parcels across the southern Rhone valley (actually around Avignon to Mont Ventoux), where Grenache is the king of grapes (rather than Syrah in the north).

All wines are fermented in small stainless steel tanks.

Rhône Valley

The Rhône is one of the classic French wine regions. It starts in central France, just south of Lyon, stretching almost to the Mediterranean Sea.

The region comprises many-storied appellations (defined areas with legally mandated grapes and wine styles) that take their name from communes along the river.
