A modern nose, subdued but complex, nectarine and lemon zest with gently toasted hazelnuts. It is all about fruit and texture, stone fruit galore, nectarine, apricot and peach with a loving touch of citrus. The mouthfeel is perfection with a crisp acid line. With a light straw hue the nose opens with lifted melon, peach, grilled nuts and a clove/ cinnamon like character on the nose. The palate is mid weighted but with good flavour intensity. “This Chardonnay has been made with only the “free run” juice – the first run, finest quality juice without the bitterness and phenolics associated with the grape skin. The juice was fermented in new and second use French oak 500 litre puncheons with some grape solids giving the wine a complex savoury note. It matured in oak for 9 months. Colour is a bright clear steely white with youthful green hues. Nectarine and mandarin are complemented by a textured savoury mid palate with hints of melon and spicy vanillin oak leading to a long crisp grapefruit finish. A vibrant lifted nose of citrus and stone fruits with savoury cashew notes and hints of gunflint and toasty French oak. This wine will improve with up to 10 years careful cellaring. “
A brilliant fresh green straw colour on release. Aromas complex, perfumed notes of citrus and fresh nectarines balanced by toasty French oak and a savoury cashew character from barrel fermentation. The palate is full-bodied and complex. Stone fruits and honeydew melon flavours lead to a creamier rounded mid-palate of peach, vanilla and roasted nuts, with a lingering crisp finish of grapefruit and spicy French oak.
