2019 Castel Firmian Riserva Teroldego Rotaliano

Teroldego is a grape variety indigenous to the valleys of Trentino. It is related to several local red grape varieties, as well as to Shiraz. A premium variety, it is appreciated for its capacity to give deeply coloured, lively flavoursome wines with pleasant tannins. The Riserva wines produced by the Mezzacorona co-operative are produced using only the best fruit from good vintages. The grapes are grown exclusively in Piana Rotaliana vineyards, their native home. The grapes are pressed without stems and macerated on the skins. After fermentation the wine is transferred to French oak barrels for 12 months and then rests for a further 12 months before bottling. This wine has an impressive deep colour with very attractive aromas of ripe fruit and berries. A fresh and elegant palate follows with subtle notes of barrel ageing.
