“Intense red, thick and deep with lightly garnet reflections. Mature, with notes of red berries as blackberry, raspberry and cherry, floral notes of violet and hints of tobacco and vanilla coming fromthe aging in wood. Soft and juicy with elegant and fine tannins, this wine shows excellent structure and body.”
The colour is mid red. The perfumed nose exhibits lifted redskin lollies, raspberry, wild strawberry fruit, with thyme and sweet spice notes. The juicy and fruit driven palate has raspberry fruit, orange blossom, ginger, mint and an earthy note. The old vines ensure weight and depth on the palate and the fleshy and supple tannins add to the mouthfeel of the wine with a mineral edge. The wine is balanced through the palate and the juicy berry flavours linger nicely.
Victoire Lafayette 1777 is a Blanc de Blancs that is made using the Charmat method. The wine is named after the honourable, historic figure Marquis de Lafayette, who was a French aristocrat and military officer who has been considered a national hero, both in France and the United States.
John and Brigid Forrest stepped away from their successful careers in scientific research and medicine to follow their passion for wine in a fairly green New Zealand wine industry in 1988, creating Forrest Wines as one of the first wineries in Marlborough. Forrest Wines is one of only 12 second-generation wineries in the region, passing the love and passion for winemaking down from one generation to the next.
Since the first harvest in 2006, Tarras Vineyards has also made a name for delivering outstanding expressions of Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough. The style is not typical, not mainstream, with more complexity and a European subtlety wrapped up with an unmistakable Marlborough signature.
Paisley Wines was created in 2016 by Derek Fitzgerald and Kirsten Harvey and combines both of their experience with their mutual passion for music, art and great wine.
