“At Jacquart, there is no talk of history; it is definitely all about the future and the wine itself. We are looking to showcase elegance with wines of clean structure and refined aromas – straightforward and appealing.” – Floriane Ezniak, Cellar Master at Champagne Jacquart

The house of Jacquart was established in 1964 as a Chardonnay-growers co-operative. Today, it is the largest grower-producer in Champagne, with 100% of the fruit grown by the owners. Closely linked to the terroir, the wines represent a fascinating bridge between the smaller family estates and the larger Champagne houses – the Grands Marques.

All cuvées are Chardonnay dominant. This, in turn, requires longer ageing (3.5 years) than the Pinot Noir -based marques (18 months), and as a result Jacquart has a very refined mousse. The Chardonnay also contributes to a dry aperitif style, refreshing wine.

What’s in a name? The Cellar at the Jacquart maison is adorned with a map of the 1,400 vineyards contributing to Champagne Jacquart. These are colour coded by variety, sub district, cru and soil type, all of which create a ‘mosaic’ that is brought to life in the Brut Mosaique.

A Contemporary Approach to Wine

Reviewing Jacquart Mosaique Brut – (Real Review)

For Jacquart, Champagne does not only belong to special occasions, new year, or celebrations. It can be enjoyed on a dinner, in the afternoon with friends or even in a Sunday Brunch.

This modern and contemporary elegant approach to Champagne stands at the core of the House Jacquart. In fact, whilst they have the status of a Champagne brand they offer less formal possibilities for consumption and a fair value.

So does this mean inferior quality? Actually, the opposite is true in this case: Champagne Jacquart draws on the expertise and tradition of champagne when making its wines, but its youth gives it greater liberty in its expression and wine styles.

The house uses only Cuvée, which in Champagne refers to the first 2,050 liters of grape juice from 4,000 kg of grapes. By using only the first press, the wines can age for 36 months or more!

House Jacquart Vineyards and Story

The identity of the Jacquart House has a profound link with the land of Champagne, in its hilly landscapes, its chalk and its villages. Young as it may be in Champagne history terms, thanks to its 1,800 winegrowers, Jacquart boasts a terroir as vast as it is unique, covering 2,400 hectares, to shape its wines with a very contemporary elegance.

Jacquart instructs their winegrowers on how to enhance their cultivating practices and improve grape quality. In fact, their vines enjoy attentive care from their 1,800 wine-growing partners.

The winegrowers have a passion for their work on the vines and follows the rhythm of the Champagne seasons. They work the soil, remove weeds and handle fertilisation in the course of the seasons. This means pruning, tying up, bud removal, trimming, leaf stripping, and finally harvesting the grapes.

Jacquart and sustainable winegrowing

Jacquart Champagne builds and maintains on a daily basis close relationships with their partner growers based on trust and long-term commitment.

Each cooperative winery in the Jacquart group established a specialized department of technicians and engineers 15 years ago to promote awareness and provide instructions to the winegrowers with the goal of improving vineyard sustainable management techniques and increasing grape quality.

  • Encouraging alternatives to agro-chemicals
  • Taking part in the Magister network to monitor the development of the vines
  • Environmental certification (ISO 14 001)
  •  20% of vineyard area certified as sustainable in 2017
