The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva al Vento is developing beautifully. Whereas the 2006 possesses considerable power, the 2004 is all about refinement. The wine literally floats on the palate with silky red berries, flowers, licorice and spices. A bright, salivating finish gives the 2004 its sense of proportion. This is another stunningly beautiful Brunello for Col d'Orcia that promises to drink well for many, many years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-204494 points - James Suckling (2007 vintage)
Beautiful aromas of glacéed cherries, blood oranges and sweet tobacco are on display here, and the mouthfeel is super silky due to integrated tannins and good body. On the finish, excellent acidity for the vintage comes into play, making this dusty and fresh at the same time. A traditional Brunello di Montalcino and excellent.
