The label is very shy, just says it’s generated from raw vineyard data. The fine print is almost too fine to read, but the wine is gorgeous: bigger than the Harewood Estate, with more (fine French) oak to balance the bigger stone fruit, wonderful tension, perfect pitch, it just glides over the tongue and you find yourself reaching for another sip.
95 pts - Angus Hughson (Wine Pilot)Not all chardonnay from Western Australia is built like the wines from Margaret River. Down in Western Australia’s Great Southern region, the cold climate, influenced by icy winds coming off the Southern Ocean, helps to craft fine and detailed wines, with a strong backbone of acid at their core. This is a superb, bright and understated chardonnay in a classic modern Australian style. It’s savoury and multi-layered with citrus and floral aromas lifted by savoury almond meal and continental deli with a smidge of gunflint too. There is delicious purity of powerful fruit on the finely tuned palate driven by bright acidity. Oak and fruit are beautifully balanced to give an almost feathery texture all rounded out by a long and chalky finish. A lovely wine that just needs some time to show its best although it is already delicious.
