Looking for something a little different? Here is a deliciously smashable French red that has something for everyone. There is fleshy mulberry and red cherry fruits, with a distinctive savoury feel, that are also lifted by a dusting of violets and spice. It’s quite bold for a Côtes du Rhône but never loses its French style. The palate continues along that savoury line with baked earth and tobacco complexity on a bed of dark fruits with meaty tannins rounding off a delicious package. Match it up with a cheese and charcuterie platter.
90 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)Like the La Resistance Rose, this is a blend of grenache and shiraz and is made/grown organically. An attractive magenta colour with chocolate, dry herbs, red fruits and mulberry aromas. Soft, supple and with reasonable length, this will drink nicely for the next four to five years. Imagine a bottle of this cracked open for a plate of barbecued beef sausages – it would be a perfect match.
