Color: A pale golden dress with green highlights

Nose: Intense and complex nose. The aromas of grapefruit and apple that emerge first are complemented by an elegant spicy touch of cinnamon, on a background of toast.

Palate: The mouth is of a beautiful balance, with a dense material awakened by a saline vivacity. The aromas are expressive, and especially persistent in a fresh and sharp finish.

96 pts - Kim Brebach (BWU20)

Not to be confused with Pouilly Fumé, which is Sauvignon Blanc, Pouilly Fuissé is a neighbour on the northern Loire that produces Chardonnays. The first thing that strikes you here is the gorgeous aromatic French oak, followed by a rich and round mouthful of ripe fruit. White and yellow stone fruit that is seamlessly integrated with the oak. Wonderful wine, just a tad short on the finish for me.

92 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)

The interest in fine white Burgundy has seen wines such as this Pouilly Fuisse come into their own. The great regions are in massive demand and are now at prices ordinary mortals can only dream of meeting. Up and coming districts are offering fine examples at much more manageable costs. This wine is a deep yellow gold. The nose is restrained, focused and elegant with subtle cashews and stonefruits. Balanced, layered and offering a pleasing texture, there is gentle length here which lingers appealingly with hints of apricot emerging on the palate. Drink now and over the next five years where there is certainly room for further improvement over that period.
