A really sophisticated riesling here with a distinct German feel to it thanks to layers of fine and delicate fruits that are underpinned by a seamless blend of acidity with just a gentle touch of sweetness. It is a delight, and worth tracking down. The colour is pale and the fruit instantly intriguing – pears, spice and slatey aromas too. The complexity keeps coming, every time you take another look. The palate then continues on the same theme with beautiful purity and focus; it’s silky smooth texture underpinned by a core of juicy fruit before a lingering, spicy finish. Enjoy with Salt and Pepper Crab.
94 pts - Ken Gargett, Wine PilotThere is apparently not a lot of Riesling planted in the Denmark sub region of Western Australia’s Great Southern, but on the strength of this wine, it might be time to consider planting a little more. Or a lot more. Similar production method here of free run juice only, then a lengthy ferment at cooler temperatures in stainless steel. Green gold in colour. This is more mineral, saline and oyster shell in character. Florals emerge and then some powerful grapefruit notes. The grapefruit really steps up on the palate. There is very good length here and impeccable balance, elegance and concentration. Like this a lot and it surely has an exciting future over the next fifteen to twenty years
