This is gorgeously ripe and perfumed on the nose with dark plum, mulberry, smoked game and roasted nut characters. The wonderfully weighted palate displays excellent fruit richness with velvety texture and beautifully pitched tannins, finishing wonderfully long and robust.
92 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)Now we get to the unfortunately named Denim Mataro. A maroon garnet colour, there are quite powerful aromatics on display here, bold and a little chocky. Black fruits, bay leaves and warm earth are supported by hints of cloves, leather and a sweet core of cassis, which comes to the fore on the palate. Fine but firm tannins, this is a really good Mataro, to be enjoyed over the next six to eight years.
