A well-crafted Chardonnay that listens to the fruit, striking just the right balance with oak. Pemberton is considered relatively cool in climate and there’s definitely a delicacy and fine-edged quality to the fruit. Citrus, lemon curd, apple and mandarin peel are fresh and bright. Light savoury notes in preserved lemon with almond meal are to be found on the palate which is smooth and supple. Offers a good depth of fruit and length.
92 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)A fine Chardonnay from the Pemberton region in Western Australia, this is a wine of real promise and good value. It benefits from already having a few years under its belt in the cellar. Deep yellow hue, the nose exhibits hints of oatmeal, cashews, melon and a flick of citrus. The oak is almost completely integrated, even at this relatively early stage. Good intensity runs the length and there is a touch of bitter almond on the finish, which is long and lingering. Fine balance here, this is a most enjoyable Chardy for now and will remain so over the next three to five years.
