From the southwestern area of Victoria, southwest of the Grampians, on the way to Mount Gambier. It’s a different style of Pinot Gris compared to the usual ripe pear and ginger style. The pink colour is the first sign – PG skins are pink. Apparently the winemaker used skin contact fermentation and ‘some barrel work’, which explains the extra depth here but not the intense sweet fruit that made me think of peaches and pineapples.
92 pts - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)Light-medium straw with a brassy tint; the bouquet has creamy lees, some smoky reductive notes, a suggestion of oak barrel, and the palate is rich and round, full and supple with lots of texture. Full and creamy-rich, it takes this grape well beyond simple fruitiness.
