This is a really good value Italian red. Dark garnet in colour, there are attractive lifted aromas here and the wine is, if anything, most definitely not a shrinking violet. Black cherries, chocolate, warm earth, coffee grinds, rose petals and some toasty, biscuity oak. This is dense but balanced and of medium length with sleek tannins. A very attractive style, especially for those looking for a full force red, which would be stellar for a gourmet barbecue. Enjoy any time over the next six to eight years.
Rick Allen (Newcastle Herald)A rustic red from southern Italy - down on the 'heel' of the boot. Spicy mixed berries on the nose, this is full-bodied and meaty, yet immediately approachable. Blackberry, black cherry, chocolate and coffee, bay leaf and herbs, then dusty tannins. Packed with flavour, this would be a hit at the backyard barbie with a juicy steak.
