Barossa Valley mataro, 30% whole bunches, wild fermented and aged in old French hogsheads for 24 months. Excellent aromatic depth and detail with juicy plum and summer berry fruits, Asian spice, dried citrus rind, jasmine, earth and roasting meats. The aromas transpose neatly over onto the palate which is pure of fruit, well-weighted and displays considerable fruit heft.
92 pts - Q Wine ReviewGimme all the wings and a glass or two of this. Yummo! The spiced plums and smokey characters of this Mataro fly the flag proudly. A respectable density and gripping meatiness call for smoked and charred meats. The website hasn't got the new labels uploaded just yet but my handy work above will give you an idea what to look out for. Szechuan pepper wraps itself around black and red fruits. It's generous with great width and length that finishes smooth as it lures you closer. A wine that grows on you, it improves with time in the glass. A great drink that is nicely done.
