Didn’t know they had Malbec at Pemberton. This is a 90 / 10 blend with Cabernet the minor partner. Full on plum and mulberry fruit with that telltale tobacco edge and some chocolate to follow. Fascinating!
91 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)A solo Malbec, not that common here, from Pemberton. A red garnet hue, there are herbal notes and animal skins, with raspberries, some oak evident and cherries plus even a touch of blackberries and bay leaves. This is a firm style, quite varietal, which does have solid length, fine yet firm tannins and good concentration. This can be enjoyed any time over the next six to eight years. Those keen to see what straight varietal Malbec looks like should track down a bottle. Those looking for an enjoyable drink could do the same.
