This range of wine is named for Celtic mythological characters of old. The Clurichaun is known as a bad tempered cousin of the Leprechaun, who resides in wine cellars around Ireland. If you are kind to the creature, he will take good care of your wines, but if not he will drink you out of house and home.
Color: Deep plum in colour.
Nose: From an amazing site in the southern part of the valley, this exceptional single vineyard wine displays all the characters of a classic Barossa Mataro. The nose is lifed with savoury fruit characters, earthy notes and Indian spices like cardomon and cloves.
Palate: The palate has great complexity with blackberries, blueberries and hints of Kalamata olive. The toasty oak adds mouthfeel and texture, as do the fine grain tannins. The wine finishes long with roasted meats and berry fruit. Drink now or cellar up to ten years.
Pairings: Winemakers Derek and Kirsten suggest this rich wine would be an excellent pairing with roasted meats or cured meats and cheeses.
