Deep straw gold to amber hue. Honeycomb, toffee and apricot jam aromas. Lovely weight of dried apricot and toffee across the palate, sweetness is high but doesn’t overpower as caramelized nutty notes add a deep almost savoury element. Great length, acidity and a hint of tannin bringing control and refreshment to the finish.
93 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)This delightful sweetie is a blend of Chardonnay, Viognier and Inzolia. Named as a tribute to Hekate, a Greek goddess, guardian of youth and bestower of kindness and wealth. The grapes hail from Sicily, where they are naturally dried, becoming rather raisin-like which concentrates the sugars. A burnt orange colour, this is simply dripping honey and treacle. It is luscious and richly flavoured. Honey notes run the length and there are ripe stonefruit characters, peaches and apricots with touches mandarin. It is well balanced and there is a clean and non-cloying finish. Drink for ten years plus.
