We are pleased to share a bunch of fantastic points, awards & reviews our Australian & International wineries have recently received.

Margaret River Region Wines
2016 Clairault Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points – International Wine Challenge

“A serious nose of power but not overweight. The purity of fruit is balanced by savoury oak notes and some lovely freshness on the palate. A pristine wine, structured and polished.”

95 points – Halliday Wine Companion

“Destemmed and lightly crushed, 14 days on skins, matured for 10 months in French barriques. Another drop dead bargain. The colour waves the starting flag, the aromas and flavours of cassis leading the way, the texture plush and evocative, yet has all the structure needed. A lovely Margaret River cabernet.”

2016 Clairault Estate Chardonnay

96 points – Halliday Wine Companion

“Hand-picked, chilled, whole-bunch pressed, fermented in French barriques (40% new), matured on lees for 9 months. A wine of rare purity, intensity and length. Grapefruit is the dominant flavour, white peach and Granny Smith apple adding to the complexity. French oak plays its all-important role in providing structure and texture, its flavour unimportant.”

90 points – International Wine Challenge

“Crisp style, green apple, fresh lively palate. May need decanting for some but nicely balanced overall.”

2017 Streicker Ironstone Block Chardonnay

90 points – International Wine Challenge

“Lime, creamy, integrated oak. Well crafted wine. White peach and vanilla oak flavours.”

Great Southern Region Wines
2014 Harewood Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

90 points – Drinks Trade Mag

“Dense inky red, complex spicy nose of plum and hints of chocolate; rich, generous, berries. Lashings of ripe, dark fruits on the palate, liquorice and well integrated oak.”

2018 Harewood Estate Denmark Riesling

94 points – Andrew Graham, Australian Wine Review

“Harewood’s array of Riesling rarely fails. But this Denmark release is up there with the Porongurup as the best of the year. It’s the density, really, that pushes this along, like grapefruit/lime concentrate (but not sweet), a little fennel and the briefest lilt of sweetness to finish. Perfectly formed and delicious Great Southern Riesling.”

96 points – Kim Brebach

“This is a classic Riesling with ripe limes, green apples and talc, and the intensity of flavour is astonishing. There’s plenty of fine acid to hold the balance, but you keep coming back for another taste because that intensity is hard to believe.”

90 points – Toni Paternson MW, The Real Review

“Beautifully fresh and delicate with lemon juice aromatics, a touch of talc and some crushed herb. The palate is juicy and lively with energy running through the length of the palate. Fine, long, zippy and flavoursome.”

2018 Harewood Estate Frankland River Riesling

93 points – Andrew Graham, Australian Wine Review

“Compared to the Denmark Riesling, this has more pristine fruit, if perhaps a little more shy. Still that core of grapefruit, with hints of celery. More driving acidity compared to the Denmark and a similar core of dense fruit. Another compelling wine, if less easy to love than the Denmark release.”

92 points – Toni Paterson MW, The Real Review

“A pure-fruited wine with delicate lime aromatics. Full-flavoured and expressive with sweet-lemon juiciness. Lingering lime and mandarin flavours.”

91 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

“Pale colour and a fresh, slightly grassy herbal aroma. Floral and honey hints, as well. It’s light, simple and unevolved, seemingly backward in development, the palate crisp and refreshing, with some citrus blossom notes which are very appealing. A hint of mandarin. High acidity, and very dry. It’s shy now and needs time to fill out. Very good potential.”

2016 Harewood Estate Reserve Chardonnay

95 points – Halliday Wine Companion

“Straw-coloured and alive to the day. Ripped with fig, pineapple and grapefruit before a fine etching of flint, smoke and cedar wood. It feels seductive, tastes sophisticated, and finishes with a satisfying kick.”

90 points – Toni Paterson MW, The Real Review

“A powerful wine grapefruit and lemon flavours, strong nutty sulfides and an intense core of acidity. Great energy, and succulent fruit flavours on the finish. Decanting is recommended is open the fruit aromas.”

90 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

“Full buttercup-yellow colour, the bouquet reflecting the same premature development, with buttered toast and honey, a sprinkle of apricot jam, while the palate is rich and mellow, generous and flavoursome at the same time as it’s nervy, with very bright acidity and bracing crispness. This would be good with simply-cooked fish.”

Hunter Valley Region Wines
2017 The Little Wine Company Little Gem Shiraz

93 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

“Deep, dark colour with a rich chocolate and blackberry bouquet. Full-bodied with abundant soft fleshy tannins. The suppleness of texture is exceptional. Very good concentration, density, flesh and persistence. A ripping wine.”

92 points – Toni Paterson MW, The Real Review

“A juicy, chocolatey shiraz with blood plum flavours. Accents of toffee apple and glacé cherry Sweet-fruited, bright, succulent and delicious.”

Orange Region Wines
2018 Highgate Chardonnay

91 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

“Almond and marzipan overtones. The wine is lean and focused, fine and tautly strung, the finish fine and long and seamless. Nice wine in a cleaner, purer style. Oak is subtle.”

Sicilian Wines
2016 Feudo Arancio Nero d’Avola

92 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

“Deep red colour with a glint of purple and a rich, dark cherry and chocolate bouquet, the palate intense and fresh, brightly lit with acidity and elegant but firm tannins. It has an attractive core of sweet raspberry and blackberry fruit. A very smart nero.”

2018 Feudo Arancio Grillo

89 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

“Light yellow colour; clean fresh and fragrantly aromatic. Peach, nectarine. Light-bodied and intense, clean and beautifully-made dry white wine. The subtlest grip to close. Precision and balance. Very drinkable.”

Champagne
2012 Champagne Jacquart Blanc de Blancs

95 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

“The colour is light-straw and the bouquet is fresh crisp and complex, with some toasty background to the lemon citrus and meringue, nutty, nougat flavours and aromas. The palate is tight and refined, intense and very long. The line of the wine is quite excellent and the overall style and balance are superb. The finish is very dry, assisted by a slight phenolic grip, all in harmony. A superb blanc de blancs.”
