Attractively light, fresh looking colour; the bouquet marks it as pinot noir, wth mushroom, smoky dried strawberry and quince aromas. A fuller, richer, broader palate than the same maker's blancs de blancs wines, a rounder shape, perhaps not as persistent but very good finesse for a pure pinot noir. 95 pts - Andrew Graham (Oz Wine Review)This wine won in 2018, but not without controversy. A Blanc de Noir for a Chardonnay-grower founded house? A grand wine. No red fruit like some BdN, but it does have a phenolic hum to this. A big mouthful – it’s a bit firm and a big mouthful and great driving acidity. It’s a muscular Champagne – less pretty and delicate and more brooding. It’s a toss-up between this wine and the BdB above for the winner of the bracket – I’d go with this, I think.
