Deep ruby with a trace of purple in the rim; the bouquet dried bayleaf, meaty, walnutty, smoky/oaky and charcuterie, while the palate is full bodied and savoury, intense mellowing/complex flavours with a drying tannin finish and long carry. Generous use of oak. The tannins are insistent but fine and ripely supple, adding excellent structure and backbone. Quite powerful, and would happily stand up to the heartiest of foods.

The palate is harmonious: a gush of flavour leads into a silty tail of savoury flavours. Nothing feels jagged or out of place—time has moulded the wine together nicely. It's a refined, aged Chianti Classico that has hit its drinking stride but can still afford time in the cellar if you like your wine extra savoury. It's a lovely wine that doesn't feel forced.
