Gran Selezione takes us into the lofty realms of the very best Chianti, which is even more exciting when one considers what a stellar vintage 2019 has proved to be. The colour is a deep blood red. A wine of maturity and complexity, we have aromas weaving through spices, tobacco leaves, leather and earth, red fruits and licorice. The wine has focus and length with good acidity throughout, through to very fine, almost chalky tannins. We see the emergence of notes of mushrooms and cherries towards the finish. Impressive stuff which will surely drink well for at least the next eight to ten years.
92 pts - James SucklingA solid and linear red with firm tannins and fresh fruit of cherries and lemon rind. Tight and lightly austere but it will open up nicely with age. Better in a year or two.
