Chianti is seeing something of a revival in popularity around the world and the 2024 vintage will do nothing to hurt that. Nor will wines that provide such good value as this. Ruby red in colour, this is a savoury style with notes of mushrooms, animal flesh, leaf litter, charcuterie and warm earth. There are hints similar to the spice and sweetness one encounters with a freshly opened tin of beetroot. A midweight style with bright acidity and juicy flavours, it is of medium length and should drink well for the next four to five years
Winsor Dobbin (Ciao Magazine)Chianti is a very popular wine style made in Tuscany, highlighting the sangiovese grape. Remember those old, squat bottles enclosed in a straw basket? Nowadays Chianti wines are all grown up and tend to be extremely food friendly. This one is a serious bargain from importers Single Vineyard Sellers. Made from 90% sangiovese with small portions of native grapes ciliegiolo and canaiolo, it has bright fruit characters along with some classic savoury notes/earthiness. Ideal for pairing with pizza or pasta dishes.
