Made from Nero d’Avola aged in stainless steel and French Oak for 8-10 months. The wine was then held in bottle for 12 months prior to release. At 6 years of age, it’s a mellow creature that is ready to enjoy. Tastes of cherries and plums, smoked meats and warm earth. It’s gentle, seamless red that goes well with Italian fare, surprise, surprise.
92 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)This is the team’s pointy end Nero d’Avola with grapes from two of their Sicilian estates. 30% of the wine is aged in stainless steel to ensure a vibrancy to the fruit, while the remaining 70% spends eight to ten months in French oak barrels. The two components are then blended together for a little extra maturation in steel before further time in the bottle. Deep red/maroon, a complex earthy style with notes of blackberries, tobacco leaves, aniseed, miso, bruised plums, coffee grinds and a dusting of cocoa powder. A medium length wine with a sour cherry finish and hints of dusty tannins. There is a fine line of acidity running the length. Enjoy now and for the next six years.
