Great value buying here, for a fine Cabernet Merlot from the Great Southern. This blend spent sixteen months in French oak. A deep blood red hue, this is quite a ripe style, with notes of blackberries and cherries, spices, plums, warm earth and chocolate with a flick of oak evident. There is impressive length here, satiny tannins, and very good concentration. A fine red that is seriously good value and a ten year proposition.
91 pts - Kim Brebach (BWU20)80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot sourced from Frankland River and Mount Barker. Matured in a mix of of new and older French oak barriques. Good concentration of fruit here, and unexpected complexity at this price; blackberries and plums, some vanilla from the oak, good depth of flavour, and good line and length. A young combo that needs more practice before the music is seamless.
