Deep, dark, concentrated red with a good purple tint, the bouquet fresh and clean with walnutty, toasty, spicy aromas, raspberry later, very ripe and generous on nose and palate, with layers of fine, powdery tannins in good harmony. There is a stack of sweet/ripe berry fruit on the mid-palate and then a wash of fine, silty tannins to complete the picture. A very smart Rhône indeed, a luxurious red wine. (Caladoc is a cross of grenache and malbec)
95 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)Those of you experienced in drinking wines made from the Caladoc grape, raise your hand. Didn’t think so. Now is definitely the time to rectify that. In addition, this one already has half a dozen years under its belt, contributing to its maturity and complexity. Under Diam. An opaque maroon with a purple rim, the nose reveals notes of black cherries, chocolate, tobacco leaves, blackberries, dried herbs, charcuterie and bacon fat. Good underlying power throughout, there is serious length and intensity here. A wine of richness and direction, which is clearly very comfortable with itself. It will sail through the next ten to twelve years.
