Andrew Graham joined us along with Victor and Sebastian from Champagne Jacquart for a tasting of Champagne Jacquart’s ‘Triple 1 Collection’ of Mono Cru Champagnes at Sofitel earlier this month.

2016 Champagne Jacquart Mono Cru Villers Marmery (in gift boxes) – In-Stock Now!
95 pts – Andrew Graham (Oz Wine Review): Villers-Marmery is a cru on the east side of the Montagne de Reims (literally the mountain south of Reims). It’s a very cool and frosty, east-facing area that Sébastien believes makes ‘sharp Champagne’. But 2016 was warm enough that the plot for this wine had it perfectly, and the growers thought that in 2016, this plot was the winner. Fantastic length and purity here – such appley definition. It doesn’t have that custard apple richness, but it has superstar length and angular glory. Gee it’s long. This is a superstar defined Champagne, which is very much my wheelhouse.
2018 Champagne Jacquart Mono Cru Ay (in gift boxes) – Arriving Soon! Email us at marketing@singlevineyards.com to pre-order.
95 pts – Andrew Graham (Oz Wine Review): This wine won in 2018, but not without controversy. A Blanc de Noir for a Chardonnay-grower founded house? A grand wine. No red fruit like some BdN, but it does have a phenolic hum to this. A big mouthful – it’s a bit firm and a big mouthful and great driving acidity. It’s a muscular Champagne – less pretty and delicate and more brooding. It’s a toss-up between this wine and the BdB above for the winner of the bracket – I’d go with this, I think.
2014 Champagne Jacquart Mono Cru Cepage Chouilly (in gift boxes) – Arriving Soon! Email us at marketing@singlevineyards.com to pre-order.\
94 pts – Andrew Graham (Oz Wine Review): Chouilly is just 5km south of Epernay at the northern end of the Côte des Blancs. Interestingly, this is quite round and mouthfilling, especially compared to the 2016, although it’s anything but flabby. There’s a bit of whipped butter and marzipan lees and some nutty bottle age with just a little icing sugar tipped generosity. It’s quite grand, Champagne really, a big and quite toasty mouthful, yet the acid is just right. I like this.
2016 Champagne Jacquart Vintage Blanc de Blancs – In-Stock Now!
93 pts – Andrew Graham (Oz Wine Review): All Chardonnay, and every bit an aperitif style. Taut. chalky, with green apple tang and pinpoint acidity – it’s almost stony. A really delicate, classy, delicate style of Blanc de Blanc purity if slightly lean. Super pure though.
