95 pts – Gabrielle Poy (The Real Review)

You may have heard comparisons between great Soave and Chablis and their minerally threads and ability to age. This Soave from Anselmi is a case in point, with three years under its belt, it’s in a lovely zone. Anselmi have also added the complexity of barrel fermentation, lending richness and nougat tones. In typical Italian style, it’s classified as an IGT as a thumbs up to the changes in the classification system made many years ago.

A decadent nose of nougat, brioche, wet stone, white nectarine and subtle herbs alongside tertiary notes of crystallised ginger point to the wine having some age. The palate is cushioned and all the flavours co-exist nicely: no single one dominates, but rather a thoughtful melody is created. Its development shows in its flavour profile and texture: there’s a lovely roundness to the shape, and it signs off with a minerally twang. Drinking beautifully at the moment.
