Calling all our Shiraz Lovers on Shiraz Day!

By: Justine Teal Categories: Wines

Australian’s favorite wine… Shiraz Day is Coming!

Offspring of “Dureza” and “Monduese Blanche” this red grape varietal is believed to be around 4,500 years old.

And it has it’s own day!

Celebrate Shiraz day with us on July 27th with our large selection of Shiraz wines.

ALL THE SHIRAZ WINES

2021 Harewood Shiraz

93 pts – Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)

Fruit from both the Frankland River and Mt Barker sub-regions is included. The colour is a near opaque magenta. Cherries, leather, truffles and black fruits. There is some slightly sappy acidity and a sour cherry note on the palate. Good length, a silky texture and solid tannins offer a promising future so it will provide pleasure for at least the next decade. Good value here.

2020 Eisenstone McDonald Vineyard Marananga Shiraz SV904

97 pts – Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

Deep, dark and very bright purple-red colour, with a lovely detailed aroma of chocolate and herbs, both fresh and dried; floral nuances and red fruits. A complex wine already: it will be great to see it a few years down the track.

2019 Eisenstone Roennfeldt Vineyard Marananga Shiraz SV904

96 pts – Decanter 2022
A beautiful nose of intense liquid blackberry-deep and alluring. The body has sweet succulent fruit, chocolatey flavours and fine, but definitely present tannins. A complex wine of high quality.

2021 Highgate Organic Shiraz South Australia

94pts- Winestate World’s Greatest Shiraz/Syrah XVII Wine Show

A very young but impressive shiraz with a spicy mulberry bouquet with hints of plums and a tight elegant palate.

2017 Silkwood ‘The Walcott’ Shiraz

94 pts – Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

Medium to full red colour with a purple tint, the bouquet a mix of black fruits, earth and ironstone with suble spice notes. Intense, bright palate with freshness and intensity and drive. Elegant and powerful; very long finish.

2020 HentyFarm “The Farm” Barossa Shiraz

Deep dark inky purple, rich Barossa Shiraz flavours of plums, chocolate and spice with the Grenache contributing a lush round palate and red summer berry lifted fruit. With good cellaring conditions this wine will cellar and improve for up to 25 years

2016 Highgate Mudgee Organic Shiraz

93 pts – Kim Brebach (BWU20)

A label used by Single Vineyard Sellers to present wines from selected sources. This is a robust, slightly rustic Mudgee Shiraz made from organic fruit. It’s a generous red that would go well with steak or sausages or big beef casseroles.

2018 Silkwood Estate ‘The Bowers’ Shiraz

91 pts – Halliday Wine Companion

Savoury shiraz with enough fruit-flavour to make it juicy and satisfying. Clove and pepper-spice notes thread through red cherry and plum. There are some green herb notes here, too, but the wine is ripe, well-shaped and easy to enjoy.
