Top 12 Sauvignon Blanc Wines From Marlborough - Appellation Marlborough Wine
91 pts - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)Pale colour and a more muted, reserved and riper bouquet which initially lacked the pungent intensity of some of its brethren, but built gooseberry aromas with time in the glass. The wine is quite intense and light in the mouth, fading a fraction quickly but there's a savoury touch which could have its origins in some barrel work. It has a bit more interest than most. The finish is very dry and has some textural firmness and chew, but it's all in good balance
90 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)Classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, this is the very style of wine which has taken the world by storm. From four discrete vineyards around Renwick in the Wairau River Valley (well known to all fly-fishing enthusiasts as one of the world’s great locations for brown trout – most fly fishermen practice catch-and-release but if you did keep one, a fresh, chilled Savvy such as this would be an ideal match). A tiny component which has seen time in oak is used in the blending. A near transparent hue, the palest yellow, there are spices, florals, hints of tropicals with a minerally support and chalky backing. The texture is soft and slightly creamy with a flicker of citric acidity. Medium length and ideal for drinking over the next couple of years, this is a fine example of what the region gives.
