The Grillo grape, which does so well in Sicily, is taking longer than some of us might have hoped to establish itself as more than just a curiosity in this country. Try this wine and it is very hard not to wonder why. Love it. One of the better examples of this variety I have seen from this team (I think I said that last year – they just keep getting better), and I think that over the next few years, we will see this improve even more. Dark lemon with flecks of green, there is a lovely tropical character on the nose. We have mangoes and passionfruit as well as peaches and a flick of citrus. Ripe and delicious now, it would certainly reward drinking in the next year or two while these flavours dominate, but I do think it has an intriguing future. A wine of medium length with a firm finish and crunchy acidity. Such good value.
