A wine of serious intent. Garganega takes a step up in class with some smart vanillin oak highlighted which works well with the warm citrus and stone fruit flavour intensity of the wine. Meyer lemon to the fore with baked apple, peach, nectarine, honey and almond meal notes, all gently spiced. The added bonus is the introduction of delicious, savoury preserved lemon and marzipan which tickles the taste buds and gets you thinking about some suitable food matches like pasta or poultry or both. Serves up the flavour but is nicely trimmed in tight acidity.
93 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)Whites with texture. You love them or you don’t – theoretically, there is no wrong answer to that question, but for me, theoretically, if you don’t love whites with texture, then you have it wrong! Try this if you doubt me. It is 100% Garganega, presented in a deep straw hue and a little more refinement than its sibling (Foscarino). Tighter and well poised, there is good concentration. Notes of florals, figs, citrus and limes swirl around and there is good focus and fine energy. And that texture! Well balanced and lingering with intent, this will drink beautifully for the next four to six years, though go much longer if that is your preference.
