Before Windowrie became what it is today, their homestead had its own distinct charm. The previous owner, a devoted pig farmer, shared a bond with his animals unlike any other – he welcomed them into his home, quite literally. The pigs roamed freely, becoming as much a part of the house as the walls and the roof themselves.

When the O’Dea family took over and made the homestead their own and welcomed their first child, they began to see their home through a new lens. The thought of anything potentially affecting the purity of their home environment became a pressing concern, which led to a pivotal decision to transition their vineyard practices to organic methods, ensuring that the land, the vines, and the home itself remained as natural and untouched as possible.

Pig in the House honours the quirky history of the O’Dea homestead and the commitment they’ve made to organic farming. It’s a tribute to the past and a promise to the future – just as the pigs found their place inside the house, the O’Dea family has found theirs in nurturing the land with care and respect.

Color: It has a great, light salmon colour, which would be seen in the South of France.

Nose: Aromatically there are thoughts of raspberries, lightly boiled lollies and cream when smelling after a soft swirl.

Palate: On the palate, the wine is dry, with red fruits dominant; pleasingly, the wine is naturally soft in the mouth, which makes it a wonderful drink during most times of the year.

Pairings: Perfectly paired with grilled shrimp with honey garlic sauce.

An attractive Rosé from the Central Ranges, the wine is predominantly Shiraz with a dollop of Sangiovese. Fermentation includes a small percentage which was done in older oak barrels, the intention being to enhance the texture. A pale shimmering pink hue, the nose offers aromas weaving through florals, a touch of strawberries (strawberries and cream, if you prefer), spices and a hint of watermelon. A soft, refined style, there is a pleasing flick of acidity and decent length. This is an elegant style of Rosé which will make for delicious drinking over the next two to three years.
