Nose: An intense, pungent nose displaying gooseberry and passionfruit with hints of tropical fruit and grassy citrus notes.
Palate: The use of only free-run juice is reflected in the seamless purity of the palate. Mouth-watering citrus fruits are balanced by more tropical passionfruit and pineapple notes. Hints of flint and spice in the mid-palate lead to a lingering fine finish of grapefruit.Undoubtedly the most impressive release of this wine I have yet encountered. From the Denmark sub-region of the great southern, the blend uses only free run juice. Pale watery lemon in colour, there are attractive citrus notes evident here. Lemon curd, grapefruit, spices and touches of gooseberries, almost reminiscent of the wonderful gooseberry jam my grandmother used to make. Zesty, balanced, focused and with excellent length, there is an attractive texture here. Seamless in structure, this should drink beautifully for the next four years, longer if you have the patience. Absolutely sensational value.
93 pts - Jeni Port (Wine Pilot)Defies its modest price point by delivering a potent interpretation of the classic, crisp dry white Bordeaux blend. It is quite impressive on a number of fronts, not just price. Grass and herbal aromas lead lifted aromatics in apple blossom with vibrant citrus. Flavours build nicely on the palate and remained sustained, long and lingering with an impressive depth of herbals, hay, grass, citrus, apple, gooseberry and dill. Richly defined, bright in acidity and good drinking now. Value plus.
