Complex and beautifully delivered. Shows its Marlborough style -subtle in fruit, fine textured, fine flavoured with a mineral-rich intensity. Arrives composed and effortless in citrus, grapefruit, peach, melon, spice and hints of honeysuckle and florals with a lingering almond savouriness. Brings a cool climate breezy feel to Chardonnay, nothing too heavy, just seamless, structured and deep in flavour. Organic and vegan friendly.
92 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)Another example, they aren’t all that common, of a wine made from a variety grown in Marlborough in New Zealand, which is not named Sauvignon Blanc. The region does Chardonnay impressively and if the local Savvy hadn’t been so successful, no doubt we would have heard far more about wines from this variety, and a few others, from the region. Fermentation was with native yeasts. A glossy pale lemon/yellow, this is appealingly fresh in style. On the nose we have aromas of citrus and stone fruits, mandarins, peach pits and apricot skins. A flick of cashew emerges towards the finish. There is good length here and a line of fine acidity. The wine remains in focus at all times. Lots to like here and it should continue to provide pleasure over the next two to four years.
