Discernibly more complex than its Petit sibling and sporting signature Chablis Chardonnay moves. Through the lens of some of the most distinctive terroir on the planet, it brings well-controlled acidity and minerality in league with an expansive fruit intensity rich in citrus, preserved lemon, baked apple, pear and nutty overtones. Sitting aromatically in charge is some delightful honeysuckle touches and gentle spice. Runs long and with great poise.
93 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)This is the step-up in reputation for Nicolas Potel’s Chablis (well, everyone’s Chablis with Petit Chablis sitting the rank below standard Chablis), yet the difference in price is minimal. Don’t hesitate to take advantage. A gleaming pale gold. This wine offers a fraction more depth and concentration than the Petit. There are also very early hints of the complexity to come. A wine with balance, the flavours of apricots and peaches especially, are to the fore. There is a hint of a chalky backing, with some spices and a lingering finish – this has a decade of good drinking ahead of it.
