Valpolicella, made in their famous Ripasso style, should be on everyone’s radar. If it is not, this is a fine place to start. An opaque maroon, this has fleshy notes, raisins, cherries, blackcurrants, dried herbs, graphite, cloves, soy and roasted meats. It is concentrated, well structured, offering a sleek texture and a lingering finish. Should drink impressively over the next half dozen years.
