Matthew Jukes - 100 Best Australian Wines 2023/24
97+ pts - Erin Larkin (Robert Parker Wine Advocate)The 2021 Hoffmann DV Vyd. Ebenezer Shiraz hails from the northern Barossa (Hoffmann Dimchurch Vineyard, planted around 1950), and the wine is foot to the floor, screaming down the track. Holy heck! This is concentrated—wholly directed at one thing, focused. It is savory, balanced, exciting, meaty, sweet, long, complex and plush... you get the idea. This is a brilliant wine with great fruit. Boom. It will get better. 2,400 bottles filled. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
97 pts - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)Very deep, intense, bright red-purple colour with a spicy and earthy nose laced with pepper, the palate intense and focused, taut and driving, with firm but elegantly crafted tannins and lots of earthy/terrestrial flavours overlying a dark-berry core. Gorgeous fruit lurks deep within. Savoury aftertaste with drying tannins and a long carry. A superb shiraz, very bold and concentrated.
