Deep red-purple colour with a graphite, ironstone and char-oak bouquet, traces of dark chocolate, the palate concentrated and driving, powerful and very long with great line and length. Tannins are fleshy and dense , making a significanty impact together with a high extract mouth-feel. Impressive balance: a serious and delicious shiraz.
93 pts - Erin Larkin (Robert Parker Wine Advocate)The 2021 Koonunga Shiraz is all about red and pink berries here: raspberry, strawberry, a hint of sarsaparilla, pomegranate molasses, rose petals and red dirt. This is classic Barossa with a light on inside. Pervasive cushy tannins shape the palate, while the fruit flows onward, uninhibited. Lovely! Big. 4,400 bottles filled. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Published: Aug 25, 2023
