Produced from vines that are more than 70 years old, this wine comes from the Hoffmann family vineyard at Ebenezer in the northern part of the Barossa Valley. Old vines produce wonderful, powerful wines of great intensity that are also elegant. Only 1600 bottles produced.
The grapes were largely sourced from Becker Vineyard in the Koonunga sub-region of the Barossa Valley. Four generations of the Becker Family owned the small vineyard until it was recently purchased by the Hoffmann family. The vineyard is sited on deeper loam soils over red clays that follow a small creek that runs through the property. The wine is intense ruby red in colour and displays classic forest berry fruit aromas. The ripe berry fruits overlaying spicey oak characters which support and add structure to the wine. The aromatic blackberry and blueberry fruits carry to the palate which is opulent and a classic representation of the region.
The grapes were sourced from Adrian Hoffmann’s vineyard at Ebenezer in the northern end of the Barossa Valley. The blend is largely from the Micken block which is a younger planting of cuttings sourced from iconic old vine vineyards. The block is situated on small red loan rise that is of extremely high potential soil. The colour is rich and deep with purple hue. The flavours are concentrated but with a finesse and poise and associate with the Northern Barossa. The nose is of classic blueberry and savory oak aromas. The palate has abundant berry fruit supported by a tight tannin structure that pulls the wine together to give it persistence.
Ruby red with light garnet hues. Ethereal, balsamic, very inviting. The varietal freshness is dominating over beginning notes of “goudron” on a base of plums under spirit, altogether refined by a gentle frame of spices from the oak. A unique combination of power and elegance. The structure with important tannins is wrapped up in a full body with lively acidity. It leaves the palate with refined full sensations. Powerful long-lasting aftertaste.
Deep ruby red yet with youthful hints. Complex, fresh, full bodied and deep. The spices from the oak are deftly combined with pleasant fruit. Impressive tannic structure, which is wrapped up in a generous, almost creamy body. The primary fruit and positive evolution of the long ageing in the oak are perfectly integrated, leading to a noble and elegant aftertaste.
