Palate: Sweetly ripe and perfumed, the wine shows blackberry, cake spice, roasted hazelnut, and rich floral aromas on the nose. It's succulent and fruit-forward on the palate, displaying a supple texture and silky tannins. Attractively styled and rounded, making it fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2032.
93 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)Continuing the Fashionable Fabrics theme, this aptly named Shiraz is sourced from the sub-region of Ebenezer on the Barossa Valley floor, and from estate vineyards at higher altitudes. It is from an excellent vintage. The team use various techniques on the different batches to enhance complexity. 20% whole bunch bunches are incorporated, and maturation is in French oak, 35% of which is new, for a year and a half. Dark magenta with a ruby rim, well there is good intensity here. The wine does have a degree of finesse and refinement which lifts it to an elevated level. The nose gives us aromas weaving through chocolate, cassis, blackberries, mocha, axle grease, soy and beefstock, with hints of smoked meats on the palate. Even more chocolate emerges on the palate as one comes to the finish. A supple texture, good focus, impressive length and silky tannins all combine in this delicious Barossa Shiraz. A ten-year proposition.
