Dusky red with a faint tint of purple; there are burnt timber/smoky, nutmeg and sappy/eucalyptus aromas, while the palate is big on drying tannins and a little lacking in balancing fruit intensity. A big, ballsy shiraz that needs a hearty protein to go with it. Cellaring recommended.
92 pts - Andrew Graham (Oz Wine Review)Drawn from the Micken Block on the Hoffmann Vineyard (slightly younger vines). Has a real open berry, lavish, juicy edge, rather than the brooding dark berries, truffley layers. Just a little dried fruit and the oak sticks out a little here. Cracking intensity, but coming together.
